I think the Juwel cold frames are the best design available, FWIW. That's why I have four of them. The Juwel Cold frames are a definite 5 on design, ease of assembly (especially with the new design), durability, ease of installation, and ease of use. I've got only one request for them, and that is to offer the 'extender units' as the wider size works well in my garden. I have two of their cold frames with the extender units, and two of the regular size (JWSCF). They are a bit pricey, but if one considers that the double wall polycarbonate has a 10 year (or longer) lifespan. And they work best for my situation with the auto-opener. I can travel, with the drip system on a timer, and come back days or even weeks later to beautiful lush growing veggies, even here in Santa Fe, NM.
I bought two cold frames and used them to harden off annuals coming out of my greenhouse. I love the automatic opening feature, I could work in the field all day and not have to worry about my small plants cooking! Well made and easy to assemble. I only wish they were bigger!
All in all this is a nicely constructed frame. It would be nice if the instructions and the parts were cross identified for better ease of construction.
It was easy to assemble and got my spring crops off to an early start. It was great because the critters didn't uproot my seedlings either. As it got warmer, i removed to doors. Now that fall is upon us, i started another crop of lettuce and radishes and look forward to harvesting well into November. Nice quality...loved it.
