I purchased this small saw as a utility piece, to complement a larger gas-powered saw. The idea was to use it to cut down smaller branches and prepare them for the fire pit or just to knock down smaller tree branches into workable, portable size. It does that quite well, indeed. I like its size and its overall handling plus the power from the batteries. It's a little "choppy" because of the lower slower chain speed, so you have to be sure you have a good grip on the unit while working. A different chain with closer-set cutters might reduce that problem. If you have a real pile to work on, a backup battery is probably a must: the battery holds up pretty well but you will surely need at least two. I would have preferred a Lithium battery, but haven't seen one for a saw of this size. Size and weight are excellent; anyone who finds that a 16" gas powered saw is unwieldy will like this one, I think. It has standard safety features that work well.
I bought it to cut up some dead trees on my land for firewood, but it ended up being used by my yard man. He burned it out after a week of eight hours of cutting/day. I don't think it's made for all that constant cutting. It worked great for the firewood though.
